Me: Are you wearing a shawl???? Colleen: Yes.... I made it.

This afternoon Ellie Pearl asked me, "What are you celebrating today?"

Great question Ellie.

After further consideration I would like to amend my previous answer.

Today I am celebrating...

Getting to see Annie Fazzio for a bit.
Breakfast with Moll and Coll at our favorite place. We think breakfast is the best meal to go out for.
Being able to go to church with Rachel at Common Ground.
A whole afternoon to do anything I want.

Choosing to hang out with Emel.
Watching old movies.
Having the luxury of hours to craft.
Skyping with camp girls like Ellie, Abby, and Mags.

Wearing my SIB trad all day and taking time to think about how much I love my SIB friends and miss that part of my past.
Talking to Ruth, one of my best friends from college, for a long time and knowing that she gets me and loves me.

Sunday night dinner at the Nikcevich house and having a heart to heart with Avery.
Getting to see Molls twice in one day for a spontaneous fro yo fix.
Honest conversation.
Feeling well rested all weekend with no eye twitch.
My sister's due date is tomorrow!

"What did Indians eat?" "Raccoons and like squirrels and stuff. Rodents, whatever."

My first weekend in Indy in a month was a huge success. Ate dinner with Rach, watched Grey's with Colleen Whiting, ate breakfast with Coll and Cam, ran errands, got groceries that contained more than frozen pizza and bagels, and shared meals with two groups of my favorite people.

Rach, Em and I drove to Plainfield to meet up with our Depauw friends. Oh, they're just so funny. Moll and Annie are having a college weekend so we got to play with them too.

These days I'm thankful that these are my real life friends, not just my camp ones. These are people I talk to regularly, it's not too long between trips, and we're just comfortable being together.

It a spontaneous, take opportunities kind of afternoon and being with these women makes me think we should do this more often.

"These pockets are the perfect size for my hands. Ok, just imagine you're in Main Field right now. Someone could easily mug all of us right now. That's ok. None of what we're saying is rational. Mine totally is. Cloud watching should be a clinic. Cloud watching could totally be a clinic. Masking the way I feel about you--that's Emily's favorite song. Ok. Who knows the rest?"

Really love all of them.

Ran home, cooked up some green bean casserole and blueberry muffins and I was on my way to the first Young Life Thanksgiving dinner of the semester.  We think it's a really good idea to all gather and eat a giant meal together more than just once a year.

So glad I got to hang out with Emily, Coop, Avery, Steph...

...and Hannah, Mac and Hannah.

We played the fishbowl game. Team one dominated. All three rounds.

As the game wound down the boys started to do... boy things in a dance party, macho arm wrestling, kitchen floor sliding, pumpkin pie eating kind of way that I had never witnessed before.

On this Saturday I'm thankful for camp friends, songs you listen to on repeat, bouncy balls for a quarter, Young Life family, senior girls, eating outside, blueberry muffins and diet coke, competitive group games, dj Tony, and enjoying being ridiculous.

Top 10 Scenes From My Daily Life:

Top 10 Important Things I've Learned So Far In Life:
1. People are the greatest investment I can make.
2. You get more from loving and serving others then from thinking about yourself. Structure your life accordingly.
3. Having stuff and money really doesn't matter and it doesn't make you better than anyone else.
4. Being a counselor at Tecumseh is one of the very best things you can ever do. Keep doing it as long as you can.
5. Once you figure out what you're passionate about, what makes you come alive, center your life around that.
6. Your character and integrity are so important- make sure you're proud of yourself. Even if you don't fit in, even if it makes life harder, do what you believe in.
7. If you want to do something, commit to it and make it happen. You have the time and ability to accomplish anything you really care about.
8. You should choose to surround yourself with great people that celebrate you and make you better. Then you have the responsibility to be a great friend to them.
9. Faith is about choosing to live out a relationship with Christ everyday. It's not just one section of your life but it should affect everything you do, say and think.
10. Don't take life too seriously--play outside, wear overalls, color with markers, sing songs loud in the car, hand make presents, and eat extra frozen yogurt.

One of my favorite days.

The title Overlap came about when Grace McGill told me and a group of camp friends that her favorite times of the year were when all of our lives overlapped. When I started blogging I wanted to capture, to remember and record all the overlaps I had with people that I'm so thankful to know.

I think today would go down in the record books as one of the best overlapping days ever. It was just one of those days that make me thankful for the life I'm living right now.

During SLT Rachel said, "Miss Wright, can we go outside during FBC and play that one game on the tennis courts?" So of course that's exactly what we did. I had just been talking to a teacher earlier in the day about how I wish we had recess like the Elementary next door just so we could get fresh air and be in the sunshine. Today is the last official day of summer and I'm so glad we went out to play games.

67 girls came today and I'm thrilled about the kids that keep showing up. They have positive attitudes and are excited to learn new things and go out of their way to meet new people and they even help clean up at the end. Today I had the student leaders introduce themselves and each say why they love FBC. It was neat to hear them share their reasons and to think about how this has been something so great for three years.

Madison came in her "would you be my friend if I wore this" outfit and I told all the FBC girls, "this is actually what I wear in the summer on a normal basis."

I went to watch the xc meet and was greeted by the girls team, so proud of their Old Spice scent because they share deodorant before races. Like contact work for teachers, it is sweet to be able to interact with all of these kids outside of the classroom. Just as the race was about to start I was attacked by Rachel and Courtney, two of my old students that are now freshmen. I ran around the course with them to cheer on the HSJH kids and got to catch up. I really miss seeing both of them on a regular basis and it was a great surprise to see them today.

When Erin and Kath pulled up for dinner Maddie and I ran across the parking lot to see them we were so excited. Dang, we just love reunions.

Some of my favorite elements of camp- eating dinner together, laughing till you cry and you can't breath, being really strange, telling old stories and feeling so thankful to be with these people- all happened tonight.

Being with these girls makes me really excited for the winter CILT reunion. A whole 24 hours with these girls and about 70 more at Camp T- it's gonna be great. Thankfully great days like today can happen too.

We had more sports to watch so Maddie, Molls and I drove back to Fishers and picked up Madison. A quick stop in at the Fishers Orange Leaf, because Molls and Maddie hadn't experienced it yet, was necessary.

Then it was volleyball time. I don't know the last time I watched a volleyball game...
As soon as we walked in the gym I spotted Lizzy Dale, a Session 2 CILT, at the net. Then between points she spotted me and made a stereotypical Lizzy Dale face. I love that even in the midst of fierce competition she's still the same Lizzy that would wear a pumpkin costume during Gold Rush just for fun.

We really love sports. A lot.

Sometimes I think it's insane the amount of time my students and the High School kids I know put into sports, plays, clubs, Young Life, baby-sitting and work. They barely have time to breath let alone finish their homework before midnight each night. But seeing how much Lizzy loves her team or watching Kathleen play soccer or cheering Grace on in her race or leading Wyld Life with Hannah or talking to Molls about All For Children makes me see how passionate they are about where they're putting all that time.

Today was a great day. The kind of day when it just seems so easy to celebrate today and live out my favorite verse, "And don't be wishing you were someplace else or with someone else. Where you are right now is God's place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right here. 1 Corinthians 7:17"
