We tried something new this morning. KCraig has a dream of starting every morning with kids and Jesus next year as a Wyld Life director-- a morning at HSJH, one at Fall Creek, Riverside, another at Fishers JH and then one with our HS leaders. It's advantageous and so beautiful. She's doing a trial run this month with just HSJH and the HS kids.
This morning over 30 kids showed up to have a morning devotion with KCraig, Trulock and me. We plopped ourselves down right in the middle of the school, sat in a giant circle and opened up the bible together.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
KCraig read from the devotional Jesus Calling and we talked about the passage and verses together as a group. I'm so thankful for these kids that want to show up and be part of something like this. I love getting to lead alongside Trulock and KCraig--two women who have the biggest hearts. It was such a good start to the morning.
The interviews for HS counselors for the Tecumseh field trip continued tonight. Now we've got 130 people interviewing for 32 spots and it's heart breaking. Knowing these kids as their teacher, FBC leader, counselor, YL leader or friend makes me so excited for them to take this on. At the same time it's heart breaking because there's just not room for all of the kids that would do a great job.
NJHS initiation happened while I was still at school and I got to run out and see Audrey and more 8th grade girls all dressed up. When I finally finished interviews at 7:30 I still hadn't eaten dinner. I picked up Julia and Sydney, who are across the street neighbors, and went to DQ for ice cream and dinner. These two are quite the pair. Julia is going to nanny for Sydney and her little brother Ben this summer and I know they'll have so much fun. Like the CILT Jar, they're brainstorming dozens of fun things that they'll do together.
