"No words do justice to the daily inspiration and encouragement."

On Monday night Mike Lang posted in the staff facebook group for Tecumseh, "Tired of an overly negative newsfeed? Need a pick-me-up? Tomorrow is#Tecumsehtuesday! Let's try something fun. Has somebody at camp made a significant impact on your life? Maybe a counselor when you were a camper, maybe one of your co-counselors? If so, let them know publicly with a #tecumsehtuesday post celebrating them. I've got a hunch if you all start early, our campers will see the cool thing you're doing, follow suit, and all the sudden we'll have feeds filled with compliments, and heart emojis, and all the feels. I'm looking forward to seeing and reading the impact you guys had on each other and your campers tomorrow!"

It wasn't a surprise at all that we showed up spreading love, encouragement and compliments in a tsunami of affirmation. My Instagram feed was full all day long of contagious good words and sentiments from the summer and relationships that have last far longer.

Counselors gave sincere, specific shout outs to their partners and coordinators. I loved seeing people recognize partners from years ago who made such a significant impact on them that it still touches their life today.

We had CILTs posting messages, Pathfinders who still look up to their River Village counselors, campers who call Tecumseh home and these people their family. We've got a whole lot of love.

Without a doubt, the positivity, joy, laughter, fun, silliness and love of summer camp has been the most impactful part of my life. But we try to teach our campers and remind ourselves that all that goodness doesn't, and shouldn't stay just at camp. It's our honor and responsibility to share it everywhere we go. Today we spread a whole lot of light on the world.

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
