Once upon a time, many moons ago, Maggie, Emma and Sarah dreamed of going to the State Fair together. Today that dream came true.
Our priorities for the night were food, pictures and people. We followed through. Corn on the cob and grilled mac & cheese...
Classic Indy pic-- this is the greatest city marketing scheme I've ever seen. These things are in the airport, in Broad Ripple at concerts and sporting events. I love it.
Fried sweet pickles...
Mozzarella sticks and chocolate ice-cream from the Dairy Barn...
Spongebob for Ellyn...
I perused the Fair's website earlier so we wouldn't miss a thing. We got great seats for the parade and picked out which tractor driver would be the grandpa version of each of us.
Found the Fair's largest hog and then checked out the winning litters of piglets.
Lemon shakeups and sweet tea...
Found the Xpogo Stunt Team to watch their show and Big Girl even got to go be part of the action.
Big Girl lost what are the odds and had to dunk her head in a hot tub.
Elephant ear...
Grilled bacon & cheese and a giant turkey leg...
I finished the night off with some Dip n' Dots aka the Ice Cream of the Future. My other favorite part of the State Fair is that you inevitably run into people you know. This year I saw Meghan Robinson and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Friend. Laura and Meredith Lackey and their parents, my old student Maggie H and a Warrior girl from camp who still had on her swim band and Roger Murphy band.
We decided one of our greatest successes was that we made it through the fair without going on a single ride. It was an awesome night and I'm so thankful for this pair of girls. Can't wait for our next great adventure.
