Dodgeball and Jr Campaigners

After school today HSJH held the 2nd Annual Dodge Ball Tournament. Over 30 teams made up of 1 teacher, 4 boys and 4 girls attempted to get into the competition. 15 teams made it to the bracket today and they showed up dressed for battle. My team got kicked out of the running but I showed up to be one of the referees.

I love that so many kids want to be involved and that we have teachers who will volunteer to stay after and put on events like this. It was seriously so fun watching all of these teams face off and having everyone cheer from the bleachers for the final match. At the end it was Nick against six people from the other team. Against all odds he got them all out, it was incredible.

KCraig and I hung out with The Story girls tonight, a new favorite weekly tradition. We had plenty of time to eat dinner together, be silly, run around taking pictures and just be weird before getting down to business.

Tonight we talked about Joseph and how God blessed him no matter where he went, even when it seemed like all the odds were against him. I had stumbled across this Video Journal of Worn that connects so well to what Joseph went through and how God showed up in his life. We watched it together and talked about how God is the same today as he was back then.

I love when we go back through the chapter from The Story and the girls ask questions about things they underlined and questioned. Tonight we had lots of time for them to share stories of what's going on in their lives and it felt just like we were sitting in cabin time or devotions. The vulnerability and trust is so special and sometimes hard to find. I'm excited for these girls that they have friends around them to build them up and encourage them in their faith.

I think it's going to be a great weekend.
