Top 10 Pearls of the Day

This week I'm starting to read Cold Tangerines with my Wednesday morning 8th grade girls. In one of the first chapters Shauna writes, "Life is a collection of a million, billion moments, tiny little moments and choices, like a handful of luminous, glowing pearls. And strung together, built upon one another, lined up through the days and the years, they make a life, a person."

Maybe when we share our highs of the day in a circle at camp, when we tell our friend about the best things that happened today we're actually recognizing the sacred moments of the day. I think we're taking the time to look for all the tiny gifts that make up our day instead of speeding on through just trying to get to the next one.Usually I find that my days mean so much more when I slow down enough to enjoy them.

1. Listening to Pandora all day in class, sometimes life just works better with music in the background

2. Finding a note from Alli Sams on my desk first thing in the morning

3. Visiting kids during lunch

4. Laughing all day while hearing my student's stories about a time when they couldn't stop laughing

5. Hanging out with Lauren after school and hitting up Jack's

6. Having time to take a nap

7. Getting to have dinner with Katy, Rachel and Grace for the Team Luke fundraiser at Panera

8. Surviving the first full day of not being on Instagram for this week's Lent Project Challenge

9. Being able to move home even if it's still a work in progress

10. Hanging out with Sarah, Ben, Annie and Jon till way too late, these people are the best
