"We've got an hour till Club. So... Taco Bell nachos?"

When we finished The Purpose Driven Life last week I asked the bible study girls what we should do next. I was expecting answers about the next book, theme or part of the bible we should cover, but they answered, "Go to a pumpkin patch!" I'm all about an opportunity to embrace adventure and silliness so off to the pumpkin patch we went. Most of the 8th graders, Cassidy, Johnna, Jen and I headed to Russell Farms on Saturday afternoon.

There were animals to pet, snacks to eat, weird tractor bikes to ride and pumpkins to pick.

The corn maze was the main attraction for us. It reminded me of the hay bale maze in Season 7 of Gilmore Girls and I only wished I had one of Taylor Doose's flags to hold up while we wandered through. Our dream team of everyone over the age of 14 meandered through the corn for awhile before exiting back through the entrance... we did our best.

Two groups of girls had already made it to the exit. The last group of Children of the Corn were stuck in their for at least another 20 minutes before finding their way out.

We couldn't have asked for better weather or company. Sidenote: Johnna, Cassidy and I had spent the morning together at Upper Room at the barn and would be together the rest of the day-- talk about the best Saturday ever.

After a ride on the hay wagon and a trip through the ol' country store it was time to head back to Fishers. I'd call the excursion a grand success.

A few hours later we were back at the Barn for the WYLD LIFE BIRTHDAY PARTY CLUB! To no surprise, Holden came dressed like a champ. This wild child was made for Wyld Life.

You know the new update on iPhones to send messages with balloons? The barn felt like that all night long. I love any excuse to celebrate and party-- tonight it was everyone's birthday!

Leaders greeted kids as they rolled out of their cars and immediately attacked by screaming out the birthday month of their poster. The kids all signed their name and birth date on the paper before heading inside.

I think it's safe to say that Saturdays were made for Wyld Life Club.

There were birthday signs, great pals like Hools and Marcella...

impromptu dance parties...

old friends and new friends...

dancing with KCraig...

the bro squad...

donations to Indy Snack Attack...

human birthday cakes...

human pinatas...

a race to eat prizes out of a cake...

and truth from KCraig about a God who loves us and says, "Stop looking, stop trying to figure it all out, I'm right here."

And once most of the kids had gone home with their parents the leaders celebrated leader birthdays for the month with our own ice-cream cake.

KCraig, Johnna and Kathryn are some of my very favorite humans-- these women are true, bold, courageous, creative, driven, motivated, kind, joyful, positive and selfless. I'm so much better for knowing them.

Cheers to the best day ever. I'm all about this kind of life.
