Today in FBC I decided that we should embrace everything we're thankful for in a giant mural. I dumped out the tubs of markers and girls surrounded giant sheets of paper.
Friends, Family and Food were the first things most girls thought of... next Jesus... Justin Bieber... then they started to branch out with their ideas.
I'm thankful for girls like Rachel that make laugh, creativity, portraits of friends, getting to know Olivia and Abbey, how Saba, Nat and Molchan always run in screaming, teaching Abby and Maddie to make a fishbone, and notes the girls leave me on the white board.
Olivia and I had a visit from some of our favorite people in the whole world. Arielle, Colleen and Chrissy drove up from Depauw for the night.
Olivia picked Steak n' Shake, her favorite, for dinner. We squeezed in around a table and order giant milkshakes, french fries, chicken fingers, cheeseburgers, and chili mac for Live.
Arielle and I kept saying that as kids we would have loved to be in Liv's position. To get to go to dinner with four of the counselors we loved and looked up too. There is no question that Liv was loving the stories and jokes and hanging out-- but the four of us loved it too.
One of our favorite parts was watching these little kids across the restaurant. Coll just couldn't resist going and becoming best friends with the pair of them. Their faces lit up and they were so engaged by her, counselor extraordinaire even in a Steak n' Shake.
Great family dinner. Then I asked Liv, "If you could do anything in the whole world next, what would it be?" She took another sip of her milkshake and thought, "Go home and play Quelf!"
So we did.
We played in teams because some of us were a bit tired. Arielle and I got to be the biscuit farmer.
We were talking in pirate voices, making up dances, repeating everything we said twice, playing categories, and shouting "take my picture!"
I'm thankful for how Olivia is so good at being goofy and loving everyone well. Arielle never fails to make me laugh or to real care about how I'm doing. Chrissy has been such a great friend for so many years and she is so good at really listening. Rachel loves to be a part of the group and to take care of everyone even if she is well on her way to falling asleep. Coll exudes joy and easily lights up every room she enters or person she interacts with.
