PDW

After National Friendship Bracelet day I met Sarah, Jenna, Jon, and David to start our caravan to Timberwolf Lake in Michigan for the annual Carmel Family ski weekend. They always head up a night early to get stuff ready and I decided to take a personal day from school on Friday so I could join in the fun. The rest of the 24 hour period Jon continued to ask me if everything was PDW (Personal Day Worthy).

After eating dinner at Which Wich 30 seconds after leaving and stopping for Dairy Queen blizzards next to the home of DUH DAWG we had to pull over because our windshield wiper fluid wouldn't work. Jenna, Sarah and I got the hood open and the wiper fluid was full and not frozen so we were very puzzled as to why nothing was coming out.

The 7 hour drive also included driving slow through a section of black ice, listening to David's stories, wedding talk for Jenna, and a little bit of sleeping.

At about 2:30 am we arrived at the Boom Scooter and were so happy to all be together that we stayed up till 4 am talking. These are just really great friends.

Today we got to get things ready for all the families to arrive. The most exciting part was a grocery run in Cadillac at Wal-Mart. Jon, Sar and I would through the aisles collecting 5 carts full of food for our 100 guests.

It was quite the experience.

Driving home the car was PACKED and we had food barricading us in.

Marlin and David practiced program in the clubroom and dining hall. Joel and Sarah practiced leading songs. I was very excited about the Glee Umbrella/Singing In the Rain mash-up. Jenna ran the technical side of things. I read for class and wrote a paper.

We had a family dinner with the seven of us right before families started to arrive at about 8:00. I love hanging out in the big family room of the Bunkhouse as people come in so excited to be here. Some families I know well and some I'll meet in the next couple days. Elementary, junior high, high school and college kids come and bring along their friends. YL leaders are here and welcomed as part of this extended family. This is going to be such a great weekend of community.

Totally personal day worthy.
